What happened to the Orioles?

I’m hoping to be in Baltimore to watch the Orioles battle Toronto. Hoping is the key word. My schedule may not allow for it. But I can dream, can’t I?

The O’s have really been all over the map lately, sitting dead last with a 13-16 record. Meanwhile, the Yankees, which had a wildly disgusting start to the season battled back to first place with a 20-12 record.

I watched the Orioles play the Yankees over the weekend. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Michael Pineda struck out 16 in a 6-2 victory over Baltimore. The guy threw 111 pitches. More than 81 were strikes.

I couldn’t stomach it.

Pineda by the way is now the third Yankee to strike out 16 in a game. He joins David Wells and David. Ron Guidry holds the record with 18 in 1978.

With the Orioles now 13-16, let’s home they can turn it around. Current batting average is .269. Current team ERA is 4.33.

Now I have to ask myself if I want to watch the ‘Birds get battered by Toronto this week.

I’ll have to let you know. Maybe I’ll travel down for the crabs. I hear they’re good.
