Orioles, Yankees Coming Back

The season may not have started hot for the Yankees and Orioles, but they’re having a good showing with the Yankees now 6 and 6, and the Orioles 7 for 5. The Orioles’ Adam Jones is off to a blistering start this year. He already leads the lead in batting average, RBI and On Base Plus Slugging (OPS). That’s after four hits and about five RBIs in Boston, Sunday.

As for the Yankees, after starting out with poor fielding, hitting issues, and sloppy play that led to 11 errors in eight games, they just swept the Rays with a 5-3 win. They head off to Detroit next. It could be a tough meet for the Yankees. Detroit is hot this year with a 10-2 record.

I have to say one of the more interesting showings I’ve seen lately was the Oakland-Royals game Sunday that ended with a 4-2 win for the Royals. After the A’s Scott Kazmir hit center fielder Lorenzo Cain in the first inning, things didn’t start so hot.

Kazmir who has a tendency to pitch inside to right-handers managed to nail Cain.

Things got so hot the Royals pitching coach and manager were booted from the game.

Things got worse when Royals reliever Herrera threw a 100 mph fastball behind Brett Lawrie. I’m just shocked both benches didn’t brawl after that. Both benches cleared.

It got a bit crazy. But I love the sport. I’d love to get out there and do that all day.
